The island of Bermuda runs from east to west with St Georges on the eastern tip, Hamilton the city near the centre, and Somerset and Dockyard at the western end. As the island is only 26 miles long and a only a mile wide at its maximum, it is very easy to see the whole island from wherever you are staying. The speed limit is set low at 30 miles per hour which means you can drive from one end to the other in under an hour. It is easy to get around. Rent a scooter, pedal bike, walk, hire a taxi, or use public transportation. The island is well serviced by buses and ferries also regularly link St Georges to Hamilton and to the far end Dockyard. You can buy bus/ferry passes and tickets in the towne. St Georges is appealing in that you can glimpse the original Bermuda in its UNESCO World Heritage setting.
For those who want to get out on the water, there are 4 beaches & small unnamed coves within walking distance. The most popular are Tobacco Bay which is perfect for shallow snorkeling, Achilles Bay, an intimate hideway, and Fort St Catherine's Beach the site of one of the island's earliest forts and also a popular hang out in the summer.
Choose from jet skiing, parasailing, glass bottom tours, and other watersports located a few steps below the inn at the St Georges harbour. Scuba diving can also be arranged. Many of these activites can be pre-booked prior to arrival.
